I have used the Federal Brace products and found that they are substantial brackets. The supports with the cross brace stiffeners between the support flanges will support a bench. Don't think that I would use the straight L type brackets like the Freedom style without the stiffeners. The ones I used were the Brunswick support - http://www.federalbrace
