dining room table-help

I have a friend that has a dining room table and chairs that are well worn and need refinished. Problem is I'm not sure what the finish is. This set is 30-35 years old with a maple finish. The finish on the edges is worn off in places(not gouged or scratched just worn) and the same with the chairs. It appears that it's an MDF laminated top with

Trend T4EK routers

Junk,didn't last 30 minutes and cannot find their warranty repair facilities (the one listed has moved) Update to my post: I now stand somewhat humbled by this post.
