Just picked up a new Dovetail Jig model 4212 and was wondering if I can put paste wax on the aluminum templates to help the router slide easier?

Paste wax will not harm the aluminum and should do a nice job of improving the slickness of the template. Wax the bottom of your router too.

Avoid waxes with silicone as it can interfer with your finishing.  Johnson's paste wax and some auto paste waxes are silcone free. Check the ingrediants or check the Material Safety Data sheet (MSDS) to verify the incredients.

Dave, this is a great jig.  Congrats!

According to me, according to performances, this is the second best jig on the market (Leigh being the first), and the first on the cost side. In two words, the best value.

I urge you to watch bonus videos on Porter-Cable website at (you may have to register, but it's worh it.:
