I'm looking for a few ideas for replacing the benches in the dinning hall of the camp I work for. I need benches for 7' and 10' tables. The main design criteria are that it is fairly inexpensive, that it doesn't use nails that can work their way out and rip the tablecloth when the bench is flipped up on it to mop the floor, that it doesn't take two people to lift it, and that it is sturdy. I've seen a few nice benches on this site, but I was hoping for something a little bit longer and something that doesn't need to be hardwood. Thanks
Jacob,
Few years ago I made a coffe table that is also used as a bench when needed. In fact, I wanted a stunning design. It's made out of pine and MDF. If you want to make a big impression on your boss and collegues, this is the bench to take in consideration. Click here to see pictures on my website. By the way, it's more than a bench !!!
You can find more ideas by clicking here.
Best,
Serge

HI YOUR BENCH DESIGN WHAT DO YOU WANT TO OUTLAY FOR COST? I MAKE BENCHES FROM PLYWOOD? ????????? YOUR THINKING 8X4 SITTIN ON 4 LEGS? WRONG 8X4 CUT INTO RIPS THEN LAMINATED THEN DRUM SANDED. SOLID AS A ROCK TABLE TOP / LEGS MADE THE SAME WAY THE RIPS DEPENDS ON THE THICKNESS OF TABLE YOU WANT?
When I saw these benches, I thought they could help you designing your benches. Take a look.
