Alan Turner's recent article "Wicked Sharp" did not say if the strop is made with the grain of the leather up or down. What does he recommend?

Plans for Desk/Hutch

A few months back on the AW website under projects there was a project for building a desk & hutch. I have made up my mind to build it but the plans and instructions are not there. Maybe I'm not looking in the right area. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
