I am wondering if one can buy bulk material for dust bags. I have access to an upholstery machine and a low budget.

Try 33 gallon contractor garbage bags and only fill them half way. Works fine.

Hi Ovalbox

I sucesfully upgraded my dust collector bags to needle felt ones.

I bought some smaller bags that did not fit my machine. They were found on an online auction site. I unstitched the bags and re joined them together using a zigzag machine stitch which i went back and forth along the seams to double up the stitching. The bag opening was a little large so i folded in the opening a bit and double stitched that too.

It works brilliantly and with virtually nil dust 'puffing' from the bags when the machine starts up. The 'suck' has increased even with plastic collector bags.

There are companies that will make bags to fit but havent seen any that supply just the neddlefelt. Maybe a search online might turn up something.

Chris
