My husband saw at the STL Cardinals game old wooden bats turned into a coat/bag hanger with pegs... I have 2 old wooden bats I want to try this on! I have 4 boys and would like to do 4 pegs in each bat for school bags and coats.. any ideas on how to start? I have searched for websites to help me, I have a little background and am pretty handy.. my main concern is not splitting the wood when I try to make the peg holes.. any ideas would be great! Thanks!!

Hey Jenny,

You mean like this...

The pegs are called Shaker Pegs.  You can get them from just about anywhere but you could use plain ole dowels as well - not as attractive but they'll work.

As for drilling, just mark your line where the pegs will be, divey up the spacing and drill the holes using either a twist drill or spade bit.

Model provided by me and SketchUp
