I am considering making some furniture from reclaimed barn lumber.  I've seen some  projects from 1x6, 2x6 , 2x8's, etc., and they have light to medium color finishes which is very near to the natural aged pine and oak colors.  Does anyone have any advise on what to use for an "old fashioned", natural look?

Thanks,

Randy.

Hi Randy,

If you are trying to match the stain color to the same as your reclaimed barn wood, try looking at semi transparent stains. A lot of stain manufacturers today make these semi transparent colors. If you still can't find a color match, take a sample of your wood to  an experienced paint retailer and let them make a custom color for you.

Hope this helps,

Thank you.  I was not familiar with this type of stain.

Randy.
