Does anyone out there know of a riving knife that can be adapted or whatever to an early model Steel City cabinet saw??
First, contact the manufacture to see if a saw guard with a rive is still available for your model. The guard with the rive is your safest solution. If that is not available, there are many after market rive (aka splitter) available. A search of the internet for “table saw splitter” will produce many possible options, ever how to make your own I.E. http://thewoodshop.20m.com/howto_splitter.htm
If you can't find a replacement there are many suggestions online about how to build your own.
I'm not sure what can adapt to an early model of Steel City's saw, but did you by chance try to contact the manufacturer? I picked up an old Powermatic table saw, and some minor parts were missing from the fence. I was able to reach the manufacturer, however they had a different company make the fence. (Vega) Still Powermatic was able to find me a diagram, the part i needed, and shipped it to me that same day. Even though it was old, they were still very helpful.

It is best that you contact the manufacturer to avoid mistakes.

If the saw was not designed for a Riving knife and did not come out of the factory with one, then I'd say that the answer is no. I do not know of any aftermarket add on at this time that travels with the blade.
