I am in the process of gluing up the back of a curio cabinet. The size is 3/4" x 32 1/2" x 71 1/4". My question is for cost purposes I am doing it in stages. I want to start with 1x4x72 for the piecies to attach to the sides. Then 1x6x72 and finally with 1x8x72 for the center.

I.e.

3.5-5.5-7.5-7.5-5.5-3.5

Are there any problems with this approach?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Bill

Are you using solid or plywood.  If solid wood, then you have to allow for expansion.
