I don't know how to use a tapering jig.  I have not found any text showing a step-by-step set-up procedure.  Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?

Try going on line at ( you tube ) type in the search area Tapering Jig, look around you might find what your looking for. If not  try buying some books on Table Saw Jigs or   Google  tapering jigs , these might help

A tapering jig is a tool that allows the board you are cutting to be held at an angle when cutting on the table saw. There are several types of tapering jigs out there. They either mount in the miter gauge slot, ride against the fence, or do both. Make sure you follow the manufacturers recommendations when setting it up. What type of tapering jig do you have?
