I made blade threading on my scrollsaw a whole lot easier by cutting a slot in the table with a hacksaw. Use a hacksaw blade holder that leaves one end of the blade free. You can buy one at a home center or hardware store for about $7.
Scrollsaw patterns often call for a shape to be cut out from the middle of a pattern, like the hole in a doughnut. To accomplish this you must remove the blade from the saw, thread it through a small hole drilled through the pattern, and reattach the blade. If you have a lot of cutouts to do, this can be a real pain. A slot cut in the table allows the blade to tip forward for easy threading. Now, instead of completely removing the blade, I only have to detach the blade from the top holder.
