Dear Teacher:

I‘m delighted to inform you that American Woodworker and Minwax®  are once again partnering to provide you with another useful and creative Woodworks Project Planner.  We hope the 2009-2010 Woodworks Project Planner is a useful tool in developing your classroom plans for the upcoming year.   Expect your planner to be delivered in May 2009.

The Minwax Company remains committed to the advancement of the woodworking profession through its school programs. In addition to the Woodworks Project Planner, we continually look for ways to help you encourage and develop new woodworkers. That’s why we decided to include American Woodworker Magazine in our program once again.

You will be receiving two free school-year subscriptions, compliments of Minwax and American Woodworker. The magazine is the nation’s #1 resource for woodworkers. Each issue offers valuable advice and information, including complete plans for a variety of projects, with easy-to-follow photos. It contains shop tips, step-by-step instructions, and expert woodworking advice and techniques for all skill levels. Plus, it provides information on the best tools, new machines and shop accessories. We trust you’ll find the publication to be a valuable aid in developing students’ woodworking skills.

To further support your students’ achievements, we invite you to enter the Minwax Community Craftsman Award Program. Since 1992, Minwax has recognized woodworkers who use their passion for wood to help others. If you’ve been involved in “doing good with wood,” or know of an individual or group that has, we want to hear about it! The Grand Prize winner receives a $5,000 cash grant, a supply of Minwax products and a consultation with leading wood finishing expert Bruce Johnson.

The Community Craftsman Award program also includes an Individual Recognition Award. This special recognition will be given along with a $2,000 cash grant to a person who has impacted their community through woodworking. Deadline for entries is December 31, 2009. For details, please refer to the flyer in your Woodworks Project Planner or visit minwax.com.

For additional woodworking advice, please visit the Web sites www.minwax.com, and www.americanwoodworker.com. We wish you and your students a happy and safe year of woodworking!

Best regards,

Your friends at Minwax
