There are two types of woodworkers in the world: Those who design their own furniture and those who don't. Those who don't think those who do practice some sort of arcane magic, like mysterious, modern-day alchemists.
There's no great mystery to designing a piece of furniture. It's a trial and error process even for the best of designers, and everybody has a different approach.
